Afterthought after Klimt...As I worked the layers of this very abstract underpainting, a face began to appear, then more faces floated in as in a dream. I was reminded of Klimt faces and floating back grounds. I plan to take some of my favorite compositions and subject them to styles of other painters to see just what happens and stretch my creativity. I also frequently use colors outside of my comfort zone. This is one of those. Didn't Gauguin say something like, art is either plaigarism or revolution.?
Join me, Margaret

My paintings include improvisational pieces tempered by a decreasing realism. I employ mixed water media, various objects, and acrylic skins on paper, canvas, board, wood, tar paper, and linoleum. The layering of multiple media in one piece is not only an evanescence but is also a tangible metaphor. This synthesis of many ideas from my travels, writing, memories, and imagination gives my work meaning. I am an associate member of the Society of Layerists in Multi-media.
